Roughly 50 automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.

Vehicles, building surfaces and postal boxes were defaced, sometimes with swastikas, they stated in a official communication.

Law enforcement say they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday, when a individual observed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued liquid.

The liquid had been drawn in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they stated.

Officers then discovered many other marked cars and building exteriors in the surrounding area.

These symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.

Law enforcement say early analysis show the liquid was likely human bodily fluid.

"There is still no lead as to its source; authorities are not yet cognizant of any physical harm in relation with the event," they added.

Local authorities stated they were trying "to resolve the mystery" and have requested to the community for details.

An important representative stated the vandalism made him without words and required to be solved promptly.

"This act strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the extremist terrorist attack five years ago," he posted on a platform, referring to the killing of nine victims by a shooter aiming at residents of immigrant origin in February 2020.
